BACKGROUND DESIGNS AND SOME COLOR

This drawing was an idea for an animated cartoon. It is in colour pencil, marker and pen.

          A cityscape
TV Station with a curved cityscape backdrop for the reporters.  Rollman Entertainment.

A Friendly neighborhood pan shot.

Above is a loose development piece (above) I did for a cartoon idea. The outline is still somewhat rough with very little detail; it is there to hold the colour.

Chinatown view from above, Rollman Enetertainment.

Above is an idea I had for a coffee house. It started with a scribble, which I cleaned and then coloured. I kept a light outline in places.

More development ideas for another cartoon (above)

Above is a rough drawing of a desolate cityscape.
As an assignment from Warner Bros, I designed this Background above.   I then decided to colour it myself (below)

The colouring above was my own approach, not based on the show style itself.
This is an Architectural presentation for a new Mobile Civic center.

A tight rough drawing for an Activision project

Above: A forest scene for Rushzone. Rollman Entertainment.
An alien forest for Rollman Entertainment.

Two angles for the Batman Cartoon, Warner Bros, a scene in a holiday store.
A stylized temple ruin.

Production development pieces while trying out various styles.

Above is a quirky rough color background for a show development. The key was to maintain simplicity with the colour.

A friend wrote a book and I did this craft over an Earth-like planet for it. (Above)

Above are three angles on a Moonbase I designed, multi-media. Two day shots, and one night. On the second one I paid special attention to how I depicted the Earth.
 A resort on Mars.

Above are two backgrounds for a Warner Bros Batman cartoon.
A rough and clean living room for Rushzone.

Over a Background I drew I put a gloomy colour and a french painter to advertise an easel for a friend--
One interesting note: the bean on the ground is a character designed by my younger brother Ian.
This is a development piece for a show that never made it, Malice in Underland. Perhaps it was too edgy....but it was a good idea--I thought so anyway.

Three rough Background designs for a Bardell project. I coloured the last one(below).

A rough drawing of a city area, run down CU of previous metropolitoid degenerationism.
This was designed for the Wolverine show: an alien space ship hull.
I did this for Batman Beyond-originally it was a black and white; later I coloured it.

Two quirky designs for the second Crash Bandicoot game. Fun to work on!

A Background for the Jackie Chan Adventure series.

This originated as a very very quick pen sketch on paper, then I improvised a colour background around it--a colour doodle.

   A Little 3-D

This was done in Sketchup for Lego Scooby, Warner Bros. It is a lego Art-Deco office building. Everything had to be precisely lego, to the nearest nanometer. A fun show and a learning experience.
Two Background sketches for a story scene for an Age of Learning project.

A Close up of a hand used as a background.

A Pittsburgh scene. The buildings in background are similar to the real ones but adjusted somewhat. Ruszone.

A quick marker rough of a desolate futures cape.

This pen and ink for Marvel Lionsgate was a one point perspective with a wide-angle curve.

A pen and ink pan for a chart.
This is a stadium for Batman Beyond
Blue pencil rough
the clean version

For the Wolverine show: a scene from Troy New York. When I visited the place I was struck by how some parts of Troy actually looked like this.

A blue pencil rough for a castle scene

A chicago street scene.
The top two are an outline and colour of a fellow worker sitting at her desk. A surprise Birthday card I had to find reference of Cynthia without her knowing. I colored in photoshop.

An overview of a view over with road and railway for Rollman Ent.

A castle in pen and ink.

A small village in desert rock, pen and ink.

The above was originally a pen and ink sketch for a chart (top), then I coloured it in Photoshop (Bottom)

Above is a tightish rough of an aerial suburban scene for a Bardell show.

At Marvel Lionsgate between Backgrounds I would help out with props. I pushed the envelope on this one, pen and ink.

The Superman show was a lot of fun to work on. This is a jungle pan. Warner Bros.

A pen and ink for a mountain scene, MLG Productions.

QUICK SKETCHES AND OTHER DRAWINGS

Prismacolor Pencil on cardstock.
A Tyrannosaurus, looking for water, stumbles upon a Giganotosaurus nest. The alpha Giganoto shoos the Rex away and the Rex complies. However, if the Giganoto tried to attack the Rex, it would not have had much of a chance, contrary to certain beliefs.

A Triceratops on the left encounters an Eotriceratops.
Tyrannosaur sketches
Apatosaurus and Argentinosaurus. The large one is the Argentino. notice the size difference.

Tigers, bears, and Tyrannosaurs--ballpoint pen.

LIVE ACTION DESIGN AND SET STYLES
This is a rendition of a stadium interior.

DIGITAL RENDERING, PHOTOSHOP ILLUSTRATION AND RETOUCHING

A lunar scene with Moonbase Alpha astronauts starting the construction of the base. they stay in the pods.
A scene where an Eagle is assembled. Photoshop.

An Eagle flying by, Moonbase Alpha.
An eagle in orbit above Sinai.

Research building in desert: hodge podge of styles--the desert rocks are color pencil, pen and ink and marker--the building was a cut-out drawing which I doctored in Photoshop and the rest is photoshop.

Los Angeles Downtown with added buildings in Photoshop.

A not too corny abode in the mountains, scaling the edge of the desert rocks. The dome contains a tropical garden.
A friend of mine is in charge of the excavation of the original Cecil B. Demille 1923 Ten commandments set and he (they) wanted me to colour one of the black and white production photos and here it is. (Above, the original Black and White, and below that my colouring of it.

(Above) A client had a car he was working on for a friend had a photo of his car in a garage, painted a dirty white and asked me to recolour the original and give it a different background. At the top Is a grey version, cleaned up and given an outdoor setting, and below it is red and I use a different approach.

A manipulation in photoshop of a photo of Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes into something closer to the description by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

In the Tarpits there are fenced areas--I added this Tyrannosaurus Torosus into the mix, putting it behind the fence. Also know as Daspletosaurus, intelligent paleontologists find no reason to make it a separate Genus from Tyrannosaurus. Some say that it is a possible perhaps likely ancestor of the T-rex through phyletic evolution known as "Anagenesis".

An unlikely pair; African Bush Elephant befriends a Tyrannosaurus Rex. One estimate of its bite force places it as the highest of any terrestrial animal. More recent studies have made it up to six times greater than that.

I created a Virgin Shuttle and placed it in a low orbit.

 INTERIOR DESIGNS
I did a little bathroom design for a producer...

My step daughter has a converted garage--her dad an aerospace engineer and handyman wanted a new look for the limited space. Here are two angles.

Converting the Mona Lisa in photoshop to a portrait of a family member. I am pretty good at likenesses but this was very hard; I manipulated the original face to the shape of Arielle while maintaining a consistency. I also raised the shoulders and darkened the skin a tiny bit.

A poster I did for a peace organization; I sampled shuttles and altered their lighting in photoshop then assembled and painted the space station and placed them over the himalayas
